Biblical Institute of Croix-des-Bouquets

TLI's national partner in Haiti, Pastor Jean Garry Auguste, leads a fledgling seminary called the Biblical Institute of Croix-des-Bouquets (IBC) in a large suburb of Port-au-Prince. The school offers a certificate, diploma, and graduate diploma in theological studies, with TLI supporting in the latter two programs. There are a total of 20 students, each serving their local churches in some capacity. For many, this is their first opportunity for theological education.

Even within the established Haitian evangelical church, superstition and Voodoo syncretism are significant problems. Extreme poverty also opens to the door to prosperity or deliverance teaching. But TLI students share with gratitude that the training they receive is transforming their ministry. Most recently, the students in August completed courses on the Gospel of Mark and the book of Psalms. In a country like Haiti where Christian ministries can easily create dependence, TLI has the opportunity to empower local leaders to understand and teach the Bible on their own, with the end goal that this locally-led school would raise up the next generation of leaders.
