Hawassa, Ethiopia
Pastor Tesfaye Nenko Edema, a trainer of ministers who is widely respected among many denominations, invited TLI to launch its first cohort in the Rift Valley city of Hawassa in 2015. That first cohort graduated in March 2018. He and TLI launched the second Hawassa cohort in March of 2019, using TLI’s all-new Curriculum 2.0. Six Ethiopians teach alongside TLI’s teachers as “Mentors.”
Currently 47 trainees, mostly pastors and other church leaders, divided into four classes, are learning skills for preaching each genre of Scripture. Each trainee is required to pass on the training, not when he or she graduates, but after each workshop, to a group of others. Though delayed for one year by COVID-19, the Hawassa 2 cohort is due to graduate in October 2022.
