Bishoftu, Ethiopia
Bishoftu, also known as Debre Zeyit, is a key city in Ethiopia’s Rift Valley, the site of several universities and resorts, and the main base of the Ethiopian Air Force. TLI taught one cohort of church leaders in Bishoftu in 2016~18. Some graduates of that cohort now teach alongside us as we train a new cohort in Biblical understanding, hermeneutical wisdom, and skills of expository preaching of the word of God. We want them to equip the saints to defend themselves from errors of Islam and Prosperity Preaching and to proclaim the truth to others. We currently train about 45 current or future church leaders: three classes in the Amharic language, one in the Oromo language, all through interpreters.

CURRICULUM
Course 2 - Knowing the Bible's Story
COURSE DESCRIPTION
Course 2 explores the general flow of Christ-centered redemptive history from Genesis to Revelation. Major themes that appear throughout—each including aspects of continuity and discontinuity—are God’s kingdom, covenants, people, kingship, priesthood, prophetic ministry, and mission. Each theme is embedded within Scripture’s testimony to the fundamental storyline of God’s plan to reconcile the world to himself under Christ’s kingship for his glory. The point of the whole course is to equip the trainees to answer the hermeneutical Question 2: How does it fit in the Bible? The issue of the Bible’s whole story is hermeneutically potent and foundational to handling individual texts and passages rightly.
