Kenya is the hub for Christian ministry in eastern Africa. 82% of the country claims Christian faith, of which 49% claim to be evangelical. The catholic church also has a strong presence. Most evangelicals are Anglican and Pentecostal. 10% of the country is Muslim. Syncretism is present, as the Christian faith is often combined with tribal religious practices. Poverty is a significant problem, as Nairobi is home to a number of slums. Nairobi also owns the dubious title of the city with the largest rich/poor divide in the world. Corruption is prevalent in all areas of life. Pentecostalism has thrived, particularly is the informal settlements (slums) as they are some of the few denominations that have pastors living in the settlements. The two most well known American preachers are TD Jakes and Joyce Meyer.
